BUILDING CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY, Part 2

We used every minute at every tutorial; so much so that some students on any given day didn’t have enough time to complete the session’s work. Because of this, and also to help any students who were unable to attend on that morning, I began to take photographs of the BB panels with my digital camera, uploaded them to my pc and thence onto 3 x discs which I passed on to the 3 Group Reps, from whom their colleagues accessed them as
required. To my eternal regret, it didn’t dawn on me to do this until well into my last academic year, ‘05-’06. The first BB Pic in the Guide follows Fig 8; my guess is that I took the first BB Pics in early Nov. ‘05. Why didn’t I record the BB work through Sept. and Oct.? Mea Maxima Culpa. You’ll notice that it didn’t occur to me to date and sign the panels until Jan.’06. Please do your best to read them fully; some of them are not so easily read. Had I known that they were destined to become digital, I would have taken close-ups of every image.

Why write this book now?
In 2015 our son Gary (a bestselling thriller writer) had asked me to read over some of his new work, out of which he suggested that I consider publishing some of my own material. My reaction was instant. “No, no chance, I’m away from all of that for too long (‘06); that stuff is lying unopened for almost ten years”. But Gary had sown the seed and I’m a gardener so, slowly at first, then gaining some momentum, I began to reconsider the material
and then I got fired up; once again I was back in my Tutorial Room!

I had accumulated a sizeable cache of still-current, still-relevant lecture material and I agreed that instead of allowing it to lie there, in unopened files and folders, useless to anybody, I would offer it to a new and broader audience.
Here it is. And here you are. Enjoy!
